Many of you probably thought we had given up on the whole idea of having a blog. I know I've had a few friends say "you haven't updated your blog in a while" Well since we had a SNOW DAY today I thought I would make the most of it and update the blog. Who knows how long it will last. It may be Spring before it is updated again. Working outside the house has really taken it's toll on me. It doesn't help that I am not the most organized person either.
The call came at 5:10 this morning, Franklin Township Community Schools are closed today, January 28. It was kind of nice. I got up and let the dogs out (poor Lucy was up to her belly in snow) and went back to bed. Hannah took the picture above from our kitchen window of the neighboorhood squirrel, Trixie. Our neighbors buy her nuts and feed her.

The view from the front. The snow in these pictures is nothing compared to our friends who live in Quebec. The snow just isn't Cooper's cup of tea. He would rather stay on the sidewalk than get his tootsies wet and cold.
The view from the back down the hill.
The time between August and now really has flown by. We have been busy with school, school, church, school, church, family, and school. Hannah started the year off on a good foot, running foot that is. She decided that she wanted to run on the cross country team. Why anyone would WANT to run two miles just for fun, but I used to be that way. The pictures below are of her second meet. She only had two, one at school and the other at Southeastway Park. Notice the water bottle in her hand. The coach told them to make sure they stay hydrated.
Okay, here's Hannah running at the start of the race, notice the water bottle. She is the first person I have ever seen run a race with their water bottle. She came in 28th out of 35 girls. It was definately an experience for her.
Next came Halloween. Here's Hannah with her Jack-o-Lantern that for the first time she carved herself. She decided she wanted to be a kitty.
Hannah with SuperDog (Cooper), and her friend Calvin the banana.

Hannah has become quite a crafty person. She decided she was going to make all of her Christmas gifts. She experienced her first shopping trip the day after Thanksgiving. She was up at 6:30 with Mom and ready to be at Berean by 7:00. They were giving away WebKinz for a penny. After Berean we went to JoAnn Fabrics and picked out fleece for all of her works of art. All of her handmade gifts were very much appreciated and I believe have been well used since.
Hannah and Tom with his blanket made with Kermit fleece, how fitting. He really was surprised to get it. He didn't think she would have time to make one without him knowing about it.
I was going to send out Christmas cards, but I didn't get it done. Here is the picture that would have gone with it. Cooper is getting harder to photograph in his old age.
One of my favorite ornaments. I remember making it with my mom when I was about Hannah's age.
Hannah has wanted to make gingerbread houses for several years and I had never gotten around to doing it. Well, we finally tried it. Tom had some experience from when he was little. His mom used to help him, his brothers and sister make them. Below you'll see Tom and Hannah's creations. I attempted one, but you know those barns along the road that look like if you went up to them and blew hard enough it would fall over? Well, that was what mine looked like. The roof caved in on it too, needless to day, I don't have a picture of it.

Do these kids look familiar?

Time flies doesn't it? Here are the little guys at 11 & 12 years old now.
Hannah and her little cousin Audrey, Lindsey's little girl. She had a great time playing with her, getting babysitting experience and tips from her cousin Lindsey.
The goodnight game has become a tradition with the Haydock's and Roeders. I guess they have been doing it since Cindy's girls were little. Below is the latest goodnight game. The grownups (usually the Uncle Johns) throw a sock and if the kids get hit I don't know how many times they are out and have to go to bed. Like I said at the beginning they played this when the kids were little as a way to get them to go to bed a little easier. I think they are a bit too old, but I guess it is a sentimental thing. ;-)
J.T., Michael, Oliver, Sarah, and Sarah's friend, Andrew.

This year Hannah HAD to put the village up. She was a big help putting them up and also coming up with the arrangements. Below is "The Hill" as we named it. If someone were to try and go down it for real they would probably kill themself.

YAY!! A snow day!
YAY!! An update!
It's a good day! :)
Hi Guys, Hannah wanted me to make sure that Sam saw the beads hanging in the tree with Trixie. I guess they used them in a game they have played in the summer.
Hi, nice to hear from you again! Enjoy the snow, and the day off!!
